完成时不能表示年龄吗

The temple has been 100 years old. 

不能这么表达吗？

查到的例句大都是连用情态动词表示推断的，而情态动词表推断，那单单去掉情态动词为什么不能呢？

不是目前完成时绝对不能表示年龄，这主要看是不是有如此的语境需要。譬如给你的句子加个背景看看：

The temple has been 100 years old, but it is stillas strong as anything. 这座寺庙已经有100年的历史了，但它仍然坚固得非常。

又如下面这句也将目前完成时用于了年龄，完全正常：

Tom has been ten years old but he stillclings to his mother all day long, his little friends all hold him up toderision for this. 汤姆已经十岁了，但他仍然整天缠着母亲不放，他的小朋友们为此都嘲笑他。
